Doncaster Airport Moves Step Closer To Take-Off After Funding Agreed
This week, Doncaster airport moved a step further to take-off after funding of up to £160 million was agreed.
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) voted to unanimously grant City of Doncaster Council (CDC) it’s gainshare funding.
Whilst work has continued behind the scenes, the funding will now enable the council to press ahead and deliver the work needed to fully reopen Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
The potential dates for opening have shifted following the funding decision. The aim is to have freight flights resume in summer 2026 and passenger flights being able to be booked from autumn/winter 2026 for flights towards the end of the following year.
Recruitment has now begun at Doncaster Airport following the funding decision, with the search on to find three senior managers to help get the airport ready for opening.

Give your baby the best start to life this FASD (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder) Awareness Day
All parents want to give their baby the best start in life, which is why it’s important not to drink any alcohol during pregnancy. There is no safe time, no safe type, no safe amount of alcohol to drink when pregnant. Our short animation highlights the facts about drinking alcohol in pregnancy and how families in Doncaster, and across the region, can seek further information and support.
If you, or someone you know, is trying for a baby, pregnant or breastfeeding, no alcohol is the safest choice. For more support and information contact your Midwife or GP, or visit this NHS webpage.
